NHED stands for the National Home Education Conferences.  And that means that Australian homeschoolers no longer need to miss out on high quality speakers and the fun of trade fairs.

Our own colomnist, Lina Maevis, will be presenting workshops on The Bible as Curriculum at these conferences. These will be held in venues all over Australia commencing with Alice Springs on the 27th of April. (see below for details)

Lina has over 2 decades of experience in home educating. But she is still in touch with homeschooling issues as she continues to teach her younger children, using the Bible as the centre of the education.

She will be covering solid reasons for basing education on the Bible, plus practical aspects of the how to.

In this workshop Lina will be discussing:

  • Why the Bible is the best curriculum

  • The education of Jesus

  • Experiences of using the Bible, some famous historical figures, plus Lina will share from her family's experience

  • Role of the parent/educator in teaching from the Bible

  • The results when mental culture is developed without reference to character or morals

  • The connection between the Bible and the society's progress

  • Practical ways

  • Example of a typical school schedule

  • Which Bible version to use and why

  • Supplementary material discussed and exhibited

There will be a liberal use of handouts. The Bible will be referred to. Please bring a pen or pencil. You will find Lina's enthusiasm for this subject contagious and inspirational!

Benjamin and Bethany Turner will also be attending the Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide conferences.
