It started as a dream. We
were nearing the end of an evangelistic trip, the joy of fellowship still
thrilled our hearts, when the idea of a newsletter came up. Conviction of the
blessing this could be and a desire to do were strong. We talked it over a
number of times and David counseled us to go ahead, but he was unsure of whether
he could commit to being actively involved.
Months past. Time is an unyielding
taskmaster and soon the idea was nearly forgotten. Then in my devotions one
morning, I read the personal account of a man, who over a hundred years ago
wrestled with the conviction to start up a paper. The testimony moved me and I
sensed God's voice speaking to my heart. Then the very next morning, Ben wanted
to share something with me from his reading. Believe it or not, it was about the
same man's experience. My conviction deepened. And around this time, David
decided to join us in the venture.
By God's grace the newsletter has been running for
almost a year. I am awed and I praise God! And now, over sinks of soapy
dishes, I have been gaining a new vision for what God wants for the newsletter,
I sense a need to expand it to address more practical issues and go from
bi-monthly to monthly. The challenge of it is almost daunting, but I know and
believe that what God commands He will empower us to do!
It is not our purpose in this
newsletter to shock you all with some incredible "new thing." We believe
that God desires "truth in the inward parts" (Psalms 51:6) and that it is heart
religion He desires - worship from the heart. So we are purposing to
share simple truth that has thrilled our hearts, with the confident hope that
you will be encouraged by it to press forward in this "narrow way." (Matthew
7:14)
